Clearwater River, Snake River Fall Guided Fishing

The Lewis and Clark Valley provides exclusively our fall fishing adventures on two of the top fishing rivers in the North West the Clearwater River and Snake River in the Hells Canyon area. September kicks off our steelhead season on the Clearwater for catch and release. The Clearwater is one of the premier steelhead fisheries in the United States and we own one of the exclusive permits to operate our guide service on it. The fall run is one of our favorite times to catch fish, as they are playful and plentiful.  Fresh bright fish arriving from the Columbia River pour in to our system. Lewiston Idaho this time of the year is a fishing paradise drawing anglers from all over. October 15 on the Clearwater is the day when can start harvesting our fish and when we really start to get busy. Our team of five guides all make their homes in the Lewiston valley and are experts on this river. Our Snake River combo Salmon/Steelhead trip is a popular adventure that allows anglers to catch both Fall Chinook Salmon and a-run steelhead in the same day. This opportunity only lasts about a month so planning for this trip needs to be precise. Early September through the middle of October provides us this opportunity for our clients.  Fly in to the Lewiston airport through Delta and Alaska to book one of our all-inclusive adventures.

The Lewis and Clark Valley in the fall is such a beautiful time of the year. Cool morning temperatures in the 50’s and reaching 70’s in the afternoons make our banana belt region area a popular one. Very little rain and crystal clear rivers are perfect fishing conditions. We have lots of sunshine and steady water flows so cancelling trips this time of the year is rare.

Fishing Techniques:

Side-drifting eggs with our 9’6 Edge Rods covering lots of water is the most effective method on our fish this time of the year. Fish are very active and will actually chase our baits. All our guides are very diverse fishermen and equipped to back troll, side drift, bobber dog, and swing a fly. Our rivers present us with lots of different columns of water so being able to adjust is important. We will always give our professional advice to which approach is most effective but we do appreciate our client’s thoughts and requests.

What to expect:

Clearwater River Steelhead Fishing in the fall is a rush. The fish are acrobatic providing awesome video footage. You can expect lots of hook-ups and 12-13 pound fish on light tackle. We get a mix of A run fish with our giant B-runs that make for a lot of action. All our guides have custom jet boats that were built to run the Clearwater and to get you in the tight spots that the local fishermen won’t fish. We can honestly say that we have possibly the best steelhead fishing in the lower 48 right here in our back yard. Great weather, knowledgeable guides, and killer steelhead fishing is what you can expect.

What we provide:

With all our guided adventures we supply the finest Gary Loomis Edge Rods, Diawa reels, bait and tackle, beverages, and cook a hot BBQ lunch for our clients.
