About Stotts Fishing Adventures
It is our mission to provide each client with an adventure that will be unique, and filled with a fun day of fishing on one of the premier steelhead rivers in the country. The Clearwater River (our home river) produces trophy steelhead that weigh in the 20 pound range with our average fish weighing 12-13 pounds.
Our "more than fishing" motto are the little things we've added to our trips that our fishing clients can appreciate. It's important to us to make sure we fulfill clients expectations of what they want from their guided fishing trip. On every trip we provide top of the line Gary Loomis Edge fishing rods, Diawa reels, Coffee, Beverages, Treats, and a hot BBQ lunch cooked on one of the rivers beaches. We set the bar high when it came time to hiring our guides and began to formulate our brand.
Coaching our clients to become better fisherman is a big part of who we are. Paying attention to the level of each fishermen and striving to make them better is all part of the day. We are very proud to offer our team of pro guides to fisherman who want a little extra. While we fish for other species, it's the Clearwater's B-Run fish that hook us! It is what attracts fishermen from all parts of the country. Stotts Fishing Adventures owns one of the exclusive permits to operate as an outfitter on the Clearwater River.
As owners and guides, we follow three fundamentals on every trip.... We work hard for our client, We coach our client, and we educate our client. With our guides, we have spent our lifetime on this river and make the Clearwater our office. We invite you to join us for an incredible day on the river and to share our brand with us. Thanks for choosing Stotts as your Clearwater River Fishing Outfitter.
Mel Stottlemyre Jr.
Meet the Stotts
The Stottlemyre's, originally from Eastern Washington, have always had a passion for the outdoors. As a young boy Mel Jr. began fishing rivers throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Those rivers include the likes of the Clearwater, Snake, Columbia, John Day, Yakima, Cowlitz, Klickitat, and many more. Between the outdoors and baseball the family was very busy but always found time for one another. Baseball was a huge part of the Stottlemyre's lives and still is today. Mel Sr. played for the New York Yankees in the 60's and early 70's.
Meet Our Guides
We are very proud of our team and what they have to offer to our fishing clients. When Stott’s fishing was in the infant stages, we talked about building a brand that clients would be proud of. Our first order of business was to formulate a team of the best local guides in the valley that possessed all the intangibles that were important to Pops and I. Loyalty, hard work, commitment, and a relentless approach to putting our clients on fish was essential. Also being able to interact and coach our clients to becoming better fishermen starts the minute you step on to our boats.
Why Choose Stotts
We understand that there are many, many outfitters to choose from when trying to decide who will be your fishing guide, and you have to wonder what is so different about Stott’s Fishing Adventures. We, along with our clients think we have something very special here. Our company motto “More than Fishing” embraces what we put in to our adventures. There are both cheaper and more expensive fishing trips out there. As a family, we decided that we wanted to offer the very best rods and reels, custom boats, lunches and most knowledgeable guides on the water. We even created a gift bag to show our appreciation for fishing with us. Considering all the amenities we offer, we are a very reasonable priced fishing trip.
Where We're Located
The Clearwater Rivers water flow can fluctuate daily with snow melt, rain, and Dworshack dam but it rarely causes us to pull off the river. All our jet boats are specially built to handle any water flow and our fishing adjusts accordingly. The main part of the river is almost always fish-able as warmer water comes out of the North Fork which keeps water from icing up. While other Winter Steelhead fisheries struggle to give fisherman consistent opportunities to fish, the Clearwater River stays fish-able all Season. Our Steelhead season begins in September and goes until Oct 15th, which begins the start of our catch and keep season. Fishing changes throughout the season and our methods will too.
What our Clients Have To Say
We value and take our fishing clients seriously. While we think we have some of the best sport fishing in the world here in the Northwest, it's the total package we're concerned about. We developed our company motto "More than Fishing" with hope that our clients fishing adventure is a memorable one. It's important to us to know how our fishing clients feel about our service and any areas we can make improvements to. Thanks for being part of our fishing family.
