Buoy 10, Grande Ronde, Snake River Hells Canyon Summer Guided Fishing
The summer fishing season sends our guides to waters throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Such a diverse season with lots of fishing options make this time of year very popular. Our Hells Canyon Snake River sturgeon trips out of Clarkston Washington are truly a trophy fishery. Fishing for 8-10 foot prehistoric fish in deep holes surrounded by the beauty of Hells Canyon cliffs with its abundance of wild life is a rare treat. As soon as our Spring Salmon fishing is over on the Clearwater River we immediately shift over to the Snake to fish for sturgeon. Want to take a float trip down the Grande Ronde for five-pound smallmouth bass and 100 hookups a day. We have 2 guides available for this fishery so this makes it very limited to how many trips we can operate on the Ronde. May and June are killer months for these frisky critters as they chase jigs and spinners throughout our seven-mile float trip. Buoy 10 is perhaps the most noted King Salmon Fishery in the lower 48 and a very popular destination fishery. The town of Astoria Oregon can double in size during the months of August and September luring fishermen in from all parts of the world.
Kings stack up around the mouth of the Columbia River where the buoy 10 lies and have to pass by our boats before entering the Columbia. These 20-40 pound chrome slabs hit like freight trains and is why people flock to Astoria.
Temps: The Northwest is a land of such diverse weather conditions. Summer temperatures around the coast can range around 60-80 degrees with occasional showers while the Lewis and Clark Valley can heat up into the 90’s.
Fishing Techniques: Hells Canyon Sturgeon fishing is all about plunking with cut bait in deep holes where the beasts roam, anchoring up and cutting the line loose once the captain yells fish on. Grande Ronde bronze backs are a kick in the pants. Throwing spinners and jigs on ultra light gear as we hole hop in this seven-mile float. Buoy 10 King Salmon is no joke. Trolling flashers with spinners, plugs and cut bait on our shorter rods will bring you to your knees. Our jet boats are set up to accommodate large groups.
What to expect: Northwest Salmon fishing is a super popular sport, especially around the Astoria Oregon area for the buoy 10 fishery. With this in mind, we only have so many days to target the kings. Expect the fish to be plentiful and your lines to be tight. Providing our clients with a limit of kings and silvers is what all our guides strive for along with enjoying the beauty of the Northwest. Our Grande Ronde float is a breath taking trip in it’s own. Floating down this small river lined with Indian blanket hills while you catch fish all day long is somewhat of a hidden treasure. We can combine a Hells Canyon sturgeon trip with a Grande Ronde bass trip as flying into Lewiston and lodging in one of the local hotels will be accessible to both fisheries.
What we provide: With all our guided adventures we supply the finest Gary Loomis Edge Rods, Diawa reels, bait and tackle, beverages, and cook a hot BBQ lunch for our clients. We'll clean and bag your fish for your return back home. If flying in to Lewiston Idaho, we can provide lodging and transportation that will accommodate your group. Book an all-inclusive trip and get your adventure video taped and produced for each group member.
